As we are all aware, several counties of our country are currently facing drought resulting to over 2 million Kenyans experiencing starvation. This has caused loss of life, increased morbidities related to malnutrition and lack of access to adequate, clean and safe water for people, livestock and wildlife.

In keeping with our vision with regard to service to humanity, I kindly appeal to all of us to give donations so that we can respond to the drought situation as Kenyatta University Community in a coordinated manner. Through your generous support, we target to provide food for one month to at least 1000 families in Garissa County.

Your support towards this appeal may take any of the following forms.

1.Cash donations received via the following avenues

2.Dry food stuff donations including maize, beans, legumes, rice, maize flour, wheat flour and cooking oil to be delivered at the Directorate of COEP, Directorate Complex, Ground Floor, Wing A, Room 8.

The donation should be received by Friday 31st March 2017 to enable distribution to the affected families in the first week of April 2017.

Let us all join hands and respond positively and promptly to the pain of our brothers and sisters in Garissa County through this appeal.

Following the end of the UASU strike that partly disrupted teaching and learning in Semester II(2016/2017), the University Management has extended deadline for both fee payment and units registration to WEDNESDAY 22ND MARCH 2017. Please note that students who had already called off the semester due to non-adherence to the earlier deadlines are encouraged to seek reversal of the same and register for units if they had already paid their fees in full. We also urge all students who were not able to pay fees earlier to take advantage of the extension to facilitate

The strike by the academic staff was called off today, Monday, 13th March, 2017. This is therefore to inform you that teaching and learning will resume as from tomorrow, Tuesday, 14th March, 2017 without fail.

The CBA 2013-2017 between UASU and IPUCCF was signed today Monday, 13th March, 2017 signaling the end of the strike by the academic staff.

In view of the foregoing, full teaching and learning will resume as from tomorrow, Tuesday, 14tth March, 2017 without fail. This is therefore, to ask you to bring this information to the attention of all the academic staff in your respective departments.
